What is ONIA? +
National competition to identify AI talents and form the team representing Portugal at IOAI.
Does participation cost anything? +
No, everything is free for students and schools.
Who organizes it? +
Organized by TreeTree2 and Gradient, accredited by IOAI.
Eligibility & Registration
Who can participate? +
Students from 7th to 12th grade (or equivalent) attending school in Portugal.
How to register? +
Schools register classes via the responsible teacher. If your school is not registered, talk to a teacher.
Are there age categories? +
Yes, the National Challenge has three levels (I, II, III). Afterwards, single category.
The Competition
Do I need to know programming? +
Not for Phase 1. Logical reasoning and computational thinking are tested; from Phase 2 onwards, there is programming training.
How does Phase 1 work? +
45 min online test in the classroom, supervised by the teacher. Not individual.
What happens to the best? +
Top 10 finalists attend an intensive bootcamp; from there, 4 go to IOAI.
